Since 2009, our work has focused on one thing: resolving tax problems with the IRS. Tax Relief Systems is accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating and is a member of the Vegas Chamber.
Why Tax Problems Look Different in Las Vegas
Nevada has no state personal income tax, so for most Las Vegas residents a tax problem means a problem with the IRS. The local economy also creates some specific federal tax challenges:
- Tipped and hospitality workers. Tips are taxable income. Unreported or under-withheld tips can turn into a balance due, penalties and interest years later.
- Gig workers and independent contractors. Rideshare and delivery drivers, entertainers and freelancers paid on a 1099 have no taxes withheld and often fall behind on quarterly estimated payments.
- Small business owners. Restaurants, contractors and service businesses that fall behind on payroll tax deposits face some of the IRS’s most aggressive collection, including personal liability for the owners.
- Uneven income. Seasonal work, commissions and gambling winnings can leave you with a tax bill you didn’t plan for.
IRS Problems We Help Las Vegas Clients Resolve
- Back taxes and unpaid IRS balances (IRS tax negotiation)
- Wage garnishments (wage garnishment release)
- Frozen bank accounts (bank levy release)
- Federal tax liens (tax lien and levy release)
- IRS audits (IRS audit representation)
- Penalties and interest (penalty abatement)
- Unfiled tax returns (what happens if you have unfiled returns)
- Business payroll tax debt (payroll tax problems)
Resolution Options We Pursue
- Offer in Compromise: settling your tax debt for less than the full amount, if you qualify.
- Installment Agreement: a monthly payment plan with the IRS.
- Currently Not Collectible status: a pause on collection when you can’t afford basic living expenses and a payment.
- Penalty abatement: removing penalties for first-time or reasonable-cause situations.
- Innocent Spouse Relief: relief from tax owed because of a spouse or former spouse.
Not every option fits every situation. Whether you qualify depends on your income, expenses, assets and filing history, and we will tell you plainly which options are realistic for you.
How It Works
- Free consultation. Tell us which IRS notices you have received and roughly how much you owe.
- Investigation. With your authorization (IRS Form 2848), we pull your IRS account transcripts to see exactly what the IRS has on file.
- Protection. We contact the IRS on your behalf and work to stop or prevent enforced collection while your case is resolved.
- Resolution. We prepare and negotiate the resolution that fits your finances, and make sure you understand what you need to do to stay in compliance.
Who Handles Your Case
Your case is handled by Enrolled Agents and CPAs. Enrolled Agents are federally licensed by the IRS, and both Enrolled Agents and CPAs are authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS once you sign a power of attorney. That means the IRS deals with us, so you don’t have to face collection officers or examiners alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to live in Las Vegas to work with you?
No. Our office is in Las Vegas, but we help taxpayers in every state. Most of the work happens by phone, email and secure document exchange.
How much do I need to owe?
Our services are generally best suited for people who owe $10,000 or more to the IRS. If you owe less, we can still point you in the right direction during your consultation.
What should I have ready for my consultation?
Any IRS letters or notices you have received, your most recent tax returns, and a general idea of your monthly income and expenses. If you don’t have everything, that’s fine. We can request your records from the IRS.
Can you stop a wage garnishment or bank levy?
In many cases, yes. We can request a release once a qualifying resolution is in place or the levy is causing economic hardship. Timing matters: when the IRS levies a bank account, the bank holds the funds for 21 days before sending them, so contact us right away.
